Governing bodies less diverse than university populations

More must be done to promote diversity among governing boards, says Advance HE report

Governing boards have “a long way to go” to become as diverse as the student and staff populations they represent, a report has warned.

Using data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency to analyse the make-up of governing boards, Advance HE found that a fifth of UK universities had no Black, Asian or minority ethnic governors, and more than a third of boards had no disabled members.
