Institute of Physics survey calls for R&D investment amid negative impact of pandemic on firms

The Institute of Physics is calling for an increase in public R&D investment after a survey it commissioned revealed the negative impact of Covid-19 on physics-based businesses.

Almost half of the 304 surveyed businesses in the UK and the Republic of Ireland said the pandemic had had a negative impact on their R&D and innovation plans. This was despite 91 per cent of the 304 firms saying R&D and innovation was a strategic priority that was incorporated into their business plans.
