Medical research charities’ grants have brought in extra funding and supported future chief investigators
Research funded by the UK’s medical research charities over the past 20 years has stimulated billions of pounds of additional public research funding, according to a report from the Association of Medical Research Charities.
This included career backing for early stage researchers who became leaders in the field, such as Andrew Pollard, the director of the Oxford Vaccine Group at the University of Oxford, which developed the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine for Covid-19.
