Royal Society study reveals ethnic disparities in Stem sector

     

Black students leave sector in greater numbers and with poorer degrees, analysis finds

A detailed data analysis has revealed poorer degree outcomes and lower rates of academic career progression among students from Black backgrounds in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

While the overall proportion of Black students entering undergraduate and postgraduate education has increased over the past decade, they are leaving Stem subjects in greater numbers at all stages of the career pipeline, according to a report published by the Royal Society on 25 March.
