IT specialists criticise NHS plan to share data with researchers

Most of 55 million patients “unaware” of plans to share their GP records, says BCS

BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, has criticised the NHS over its “lack of communication” with patients over plans to share their data with researchers.

The concerns follow the May announcement of the new General Practice Data for Planning and Research service, which NHS Digital said would “enable faster access to pseudonymised patient data for planners and researchers”.
