Advance HE defends race charter after criticism from MPs

University body says Race Equality Charter is “well-established framework” after MPs call to defund it

Advance HE has defended its Race Equality Charter after it came under fire from a group of MPs.

In a statement published on 19 July, Alison Johns, the chief executive of the member-led, sector-owned higher education charity, described the charter as “a well-established framework through which institutions can develop their own plans to create inclusive teaching and research environments and tackle racism”.
