Body behind the Race Equality Charter issues rebuttal to further disapproval of the charter

Advance HE, the member-led, sector-owned higher education charity, has defended its Race Equality Charter from fresh accusations that its award limits free speech at universities, arguing that the claims are “counterproductive”.

This follows a report published on 26 July by the right-leaning think tank Civitas that suggested that the principles of the charter “conform with the idea that the university as an institution must be defined by its commitment to racial or social justice rather than a place of knowledge and learning for students”.
