Motor neurone disease ‘needs dedicated research institute’

Charities’ petition calls for £50 million “targeted” investment over five years for “underfunded” MND research

Motor neurone disease charities are calling on the government to dramatically increase its investment in research into the devastating neurological condition at the next spending review.

In a petition started by a coalition of motor neurone disease charities and signed by more than 110,000 people, campaigners ask the government for a new investment of £50 million over the next five years to “kickstart a pioneering MND Research Institute”. This would be combined with funding from charities and other sources.
