Royal Society criticised over diversity of its 2022 fellows

Proportion of new female fellows drops and concerns are voiced over ethnic and regional representation

The Royal Society has attracted criticism over the diversity of its new fellows and members, after the proportion of women elected to the society in 2022 was eight percentage points lower than in 2021.

On 10 May, the learned society welcomed 51 fellows and 10 foreign members to its ranks, as well as one honorary fellow.
