Industrial Strategy Council finds lessons for the future in nation’s vaccine development success
UK government advisers say the country’s “flagship success” in supporting the development of Covid-19 vaccines should be seen as an experiment in a “mission-orientated” industrial policy that can provide lessons for post-pandemic innovation.
A 23 March report from the Industrial Strategy Council—which is in the process of winding down after being abolished by the government—says the government played “a key role in expediting every stage” of the development of the University of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.
