R&D funding rules ‘disincentivise’ collaboration with industry

Sector leaders call for change to rules requiring Catapult centres to obtain match-funding from industry

Current R&D funding rules are discouraging collaboration between universities and business, sector leaders have warned during a Higher Education Commission session on university research on 26 March.

The commission is an independent body of leaders from the education sector, the business community and the major political parties, and its session was co-chaired by former science minister Chris Skidmore and Conservative peer Philip Norton.
