US and European cities rank highly in science research, but Asian cities are “catching up”
European and United States cities such as London and San Francisco are still the superpowers of scientific research with high scholarly impact, but Asian cities are catching up as strong contenders, a report has suggested.
The report—prepared by Elsevier in collaboration with the Administrative Center of Shanghai R&D Public Service Platforms—measured 20 global cities’ technological innovation competitiveness from the perspective of research and enterprise R&D activities between 2014 and 2018.
