Appointment follows government acquisition of a stake in the satellite company for £400 million

Rob Woodward, chair of the UK’s national weather service, has been appointed to the board of OneWeb, a company that aims to deliver broadband connectivity globally through low-orbit satellites.

The appointment of the Met Office’s chair follows the completion of the UK government’s controversial acquisition of a stake in the company for £400 million, as the country re-examines its space strategy.
