Pandemic shines spotlight on UK’s genomic strengths

   

But country struggles when it comes to commercialising technologies, finds report

The Covid-19 pandemic has provided an unexpected boost for the UK’s growing genomics sector, which still lags behind global competitors when it comes to the commercialisation of genomic technologies, according to a new report.

“The UK’s strength in life sciences—and genomics, in particular—has never been more evident,” Steve Bates, chief executive officer of the BioIndustry Association, said in the Genomics Nation report, published on 31 July.
