Clarivate pulls out of Russia

Parent company of Research Professional News will cease commercial activity in Russia

Clarivate—the parent company of Research Professional News—has announced that it is ceasing all commercial activity in Russia in light of the invasion of Ukraine.

The development is the latest in a number of moves in the research world to ostracise Russia.

“Given the continued aggression against Ukraine by Russian forces, Clarivate has made the decision to close its office in Russia effective immediately and we will work to cease commercial activity in Russia in the coming weeks,” said Jerre Stead, CEO of Clarivate. “Our focus also continues on supporting the well-being of our colleagues and contractors across the region.”

Clarivate had previously announced that it was suspending evaluation of any new journal submissions from Russia and Belarus—which has assisted the invasion of Ukraine—to the widely used Web of Science citation index.
