Libraries rally for ‘immediate action’ on e-book pricing

Higher education organisations call for “affordable and sustainable” pricing model to support students and academics

Key organisations in the higher education sector have demanded “immediate action” for a more sustainable and affordable pricing model for e-books in the wake of the pandemic.

In a joint statement published on 6 October, organisations including the Society of College, National and University Libraries (SCONUL) and the higher education IT organisation, Jisc, say that university libraries are being increasingly priced out of providing e-books at a time when online-only access to learning content has been a priority.
