Royal Society of Chemistry gathers academic publishers to tackle discrimination in research publishing
Dozens of major academic publishers that collectively own more than 15,000 peer-reviewed journals are planning to tackle bias in research publishing by collecting “robust” diversity data on authors.
As the first step, the Joint Commitment for Action on Inclusion and Diversity in Publishing—comprising 52 publishers led by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)—has agreed on a set of questions to ask research authors to inform future actions to reduce sector bias in terms of gender, race and ethnicity.
