Durham University wants UK Arpa to be based in the north-east

Arpa would be beneficial for region’s ‘particular opportunities and economic challenges’, university says

Durham University has made an ambitious pitch for the government’s planned £800 million UK Advanced Research Projects Agency to be based in the north-east of England.

In a written submission to the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee’s inquiry into the funding agency, published on 29 September, the university says the region offers “particular opportunities and economic challenges that the creation of Arpa could be hugely beneficial on”.
