UK ‘tells departments to prepare alternatives’ to EU programmes

Treasury, environment and business departments “to explore alternatives to Horizon Europe, Copernicus and Euratom”

UK government departments have reportedly been told to prepare domestic alternatives to three major European Union research initiatives amid an escalating row with the bloc over political issues.

According to a leaked government paper reportedly circulated at a Brexit cabinet sub-committee and seen by the Telegraph newspaper, departments have been told to explore alternatives “in case association should not prove possible to a satisfactory timeline”.
