Wellcome head ‘deeply frustrated’ over lack of Covid measures

Jeremy Farrar says governments are still not acting early enough as Omicron variant spreads

The head of the health research funder Wellcome has said it is “deeply frustrating” that governments are not acting early enough in the face of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 that is sweeping across the UK and other countries.

Jeremy Farrar’s intervention comes after UK prime minister Boris Johnson held off announcing further Covid restrictions following a cabinet meeting on 20 December.
