More information needed on purpose and function of Advanced Research and Invention agency, academics say
More clarity is needed on the purpose and function of the government’s independent Arpa-style research agency, policy experts have said.
The government announced on 19 February that legislation to create the “high-risk, high-reward” research funder—which will be called the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (Aria)—will be introduced to parliament “as soon as parliamentary time allows”, with the aim for it to be fully operational by 2022.
