How the UK’s bill for Horizon Europe participation works, and what it might get back

UK research policy circles have recently focused on how the bill for taking part in the EU’s R&D scheme will be paid. It is expected to cost around £1 billion per year initially but could rise to almost double that.

But with the €95bn (£82bn) Horizon Europe scheme opening its first calls, policy experts and research managers are increasingly looking to what the UK might get back for its money.
