Universities face tough decisions as researchers label reopening plan a “dangerous and unethical experiment”

Prominent scientific experts have condemned what they describe as an abject failure to separate advice from political decision-making, as rifts deepen over the lifting of all Covid-19 restrictions in England.

The comments follow accusations from scientists who have gathered as ‘Independent Sage’ that their official counterparts in the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies are “failing the public” by being “silent” on the government’s plan to lift restrictions despite rising Covid-19 cases and hospitalisations.
