Chief scientific adviser outlines six areas of action in strategy for government scientists and engineers

The government’s chief scientist has promised to put science and engineering at the “heart of government decision-making” in the wake of the pandemic in a new strategy for civil service scientists.

In the Government Science and Engineering Profession (GSEP) Strategy, published this month, chief scientific adviser Patrick Vallance said there had been a “dramatic growth” in the reliance on science and engineering advice across government over the last 12 months.
