Health secretary seeks global recognition for vaccine volunteers

Recognising vaccinated status of clinical trial participants would safeguard future innovation, says Sajid Javid

The UK’s health secretary has called for global recognition for Covid-19 vaccine trial volunteers, many of whom face being disadvantaged due to taking part in trials.

Those who cannot prove they have had an approved vaccine have to quarantine on arrival in some countries, and cannot access venues that require proof of vaccination. Currently, this applies to British citizens who took part in Covid-19 vaccine trials of jabs that are not approved for use in the countries they wish to visit.
