Spending review to ‘cement UK plans for scientific superpower’

But policy experts note the absence of the 2.4 per cent target in Treasury announcement

The government has promised to cement its plans to turn the UK into a scientific superpower at the upcoming spending review, as it sets the date for the long-awaited fiscal event.

The three-year review, which will set the UK government’s resource and capital budgets for 2022-23 to 2024-25, will take place on 27 October, alongside an autumn budget, the chancellor Rishi Sunak confirmed on 7 September.
