UK ‘must focus research on early diagnosis of dementia’

                    

Patients will only benefit from new drugs if government prioritises early diagnosis, say MPs

MPs have urged the UK government to prioritise research into the early diagnosis of dementia in order to ensure patients benefit from a wave of treatments that are beginning to show promising results.

Last week, a paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine suggested the drug lecanemab could reduce cognitive decline in people with Alzheimer’s, although it was associated with some problems.
