Senior ERC winners feel left in dark over UK replacement funding

  

Widespread concern over clarity and credibility of government guarantee among researchers awarded top EU grants

Leading UK researchers have decried the lack of details about how the government will replace funding from the European Research Council, with only weeks until they must decide whether to accept the EU funds.

The ERC announced yesterday that 45 UK-based researchers have been awarded its prestigious Advanced Grants, providing up to €3.5 million (£2.9m) over five years for senior researchers.
