Julia King discusses moving from academia to business, to scrutinising science in House of Lords
Julia King, more formally known as Baroness Brown of Cambridge, is only too delighted to discuss the ins and outs of the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee. “I’m glad somebody finds it interesting apart from us,” the engineer-turned-crossbench peer and chair of the committee tells Research Fortnight over Zoom. “Partly because of Covid, we haven’t had much in the way of a real, live audience for quite a long time, so you do sometimes wonder if we are the only people interested.”
King (pictured) needn’t worry—many across the sector are paying close attention to the committee’s work.
