UK government to retain current legal framework for fusion energy

                          

Response to consultation on regulation of fusion energy published

Fusion-energy facilities will continue to be regulated by the legal framework already in place, the UK government has confirmed.

On 20 June, science minister George Freeman said that the Environment Agency and Health and Safety Executive would retain responsibility for the regulation of fusion R&D, following a consultation seeking views from the public, industry and academia.
