Charity “delighted to finally” see Boris Johnson’s campaign pledge honoured though “later than hoped”
UK prime minister Boris Johnson has “finally” set a date to deliver on his 2019 national election pledge to double funding for research into dementia—three years after the ‘moonshot’ was first promised.
On 14 August the government announced it was increasing dementia research funding to £160 million a year by 2024 as part of a new ‘national mission’ named after actress Barbara Windsor, who died from the disease in 2020.
