Shadow minister Chi Onwurah says replacement EU funds lead to cut in regional R&D spend

The Conservative government has done “nothing to address” the disparities in regional R&D funding exacerbated by Brexit, the shadow science minister has claimed.

Chi Onwurah said the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund—which replaced the EU’s European Regional Development Funds after the UK’s exit from the EU—amounted to a 43 per cent cut in funding overall.
