UK science minister post still vacant ahead of Tory conference

                            

Lords Science and Technology committee urges government to appoint minister “at the earliest opportunity”

Calls are mounting for the government to confirm who its next science minister will be, as Tory members prepare to gather in Birmingham for the Conservative Party conference.

The government has been without a dedicated science minister since July, when George Freeman stepped down from the post. Nusrat Ghani is rumoured to become the next minister, but the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and No 10 have not confirmed this.
