Chancellor pitches for investment in UK innovation as survey finds firms are moving R&D abroad

The chancellor Jeremy Hunt has said the UK’s ambition to become a ‘technology superpower’ is “achievable” due to the combination of university research strengths and City of London finance.

Hunt made his comments in a speech to technology business leaders on 27 January at which he outlined the government’s plan to boost the economy and appealed to his audience to invest in the UK.
