Paul Nurse says Beis held up his review by three months

Nobel laureate felt “disappointment” from ministers that review did not contain “bright, shiny new things”

Nobel laureate Paul Nurse has revealed that the release of his recent review of the UK’s R&D landscape was held up by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy for three months.

Nurse, who is director of the Francis Crick Institute in London, answered questions from MPs as to why the review took two years to produce, during a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee hearing on 19 April.
