Peter Horby describes lessons on speed and simplicity of the UK’s Covid therapeutic trials

A major lesson from Covid-19 response is that research should be better integrated into routine NHS care, according to a scientist leading a UK-wide trial to evaluate new coronavirus treatments.

Trials for Covid therapeutics have been simplified and sped up through the national Recovery trial, which could be applied to other research, said Peter Horby, a professor at the University of Oxford and chief investigator of the Recovery trial.
