Senedd passes bill to reform Welsh education and research

Bill creating commission to oversee universities and research will become law after royal assent

The Senedd has approved a law creating a new body to oversee Welsh universities and research in a major reform to education in the nation.

The bill—which will be enacted once it receives royal assent—creates a Commission for Tertiary Education and Research to oversee colleges, apprenticeships, sixth forms and adult education, as well as research and innovation and universities.
