Funding to support Earth observation amid instability as UK remains blocked from EU scheme
The UK has announced £200 million investment in the Earth observation sector, as it continues to be blocked from joining the EU Copernicus scheme.
The government said the sector had suffered “instability” due to delays in the EU agreeing UK association to its Copernicus Earth observation programme. The UK is also blocked from other research schemes such as the bloc’s main R&D funding programme, Horizon Europe.
