Unofficial bids to host UK Arpa trickle in from universities

Belfast, Cardiff and Coventry all invite agency, with Swindon and Daresbury cited as ‘obvious candidates’

Several cities and universities around the UK have publicly expressed their interest in hosting the proposed UK Arpa, an £800 million funding agency announced by the prime minister in June.

The exact nature and location of the much-talked-about UK Arpa—inspired by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in the US (pictured)—is one of the biggest unknowns of the UK research funding landscape at the moment.
