Analysing Ottoline Leyser’s rhetoric during her first six months leading UK Research and Innovation

Just over six months ago, leading plant biologist Ottoline Leyser became chief executive of the country’s national funding agency, UK Research and Innovation.

Her assumption of one of the most powerful jobs in UK research policy came as the government set in motion plans to radically boost R&D funding, reduce bureaucracy and overhaul research culture. Plans that inevitably have UKRI front and centre.
