Unprecedented cuts to ongoing research projects funded by UK Research and Innovation, resulting from the government’s decision to slash international aid spending, have undermined trust in the national funding agency among researchers.
“For any future funding applications, I would very seriously consider whether I would want to be associated with UKRI,” said Heaven Crawley from Coventry University, who is leading a £19 million research project on migration between countries in the global south.
