EPSRC survey identifies barriers for women scientists

   

Funder promises action after scientists complain of barriers that favour men or more established researchers

Selection bias and the timing of calls have been identified as key barriers for women applying for grants in engineering and physical sciences.

On 12 May the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council published the results of a 2020 survey in which respondents were asked to identify barriers for women in the male-dominated field and offer possible solutions.
