UUK calls for ‘step change’ in funding system after Brexit

Vice-chancellors’ group recommends structural changes to UK funding system to enhance global collaboration

An overhaul of the British research and innovation funding system is required to maintain the UK’s position as a global research hub, according to a report from Universities UK.

The report, published on 20 October, recommends that as the UK leaves the European Union, a “step change” is needed so that international connections are “hardwired into the structure of the domestic funding system, rather than treated as an add-on or an afterthought”.
