Oxford University ‘contributes more than £15bn to economy’

London Economics research puts figure on annual value of institution’s activities

The University of Oxford contributed £15.7 billion to the UK economy in 2018-19, according to a report published by an economic research consultancy.

The analysis, published by London Economics on 6 October, suggested that the university’s research and knowledge activities alone contributed £7.9bn to the economy, including £3.4bn generated through the licensing of intellectual property to other organisations.
