Report reveals institutions in Wales were responsible for over 60,000 jobs in 2019-20
Universities in Wales generated over £5 billion in the 2019-20 academic year, leading to multiple ‘knock-on’ benefits for the Welsh economy, a report has suggested.
Despite the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the Welsh higher education sector generated £2.8bn in Gross Value Added through universities’ expenditure, as well as that of their students and their visitors—the equivalent of 4.2 per cent of total Wales’ GVA in 2019.
