Selective universities ‘perform poorly on social mobility’

                 

IFS analysis of English institutions suggests high-tariff providers contribute less to social mobility than others

Queen Mary University of London is the only Russell Group institution to make top 10 in a ranking designed to measure the contributions that universities in England make to social mobility.

The analysis by the Institute of Fiscal Studies and the Sutton Trust social mobility charity looked at graduate earnings data and combined it with the number of disadvantaged students each institution recruits to produce the ranking.
