University and College Union will re-run votes in universities close to the legal threshold

Staff at 42 institutions will be balloted again on whether they are willing to go on strike over changes to their pensions, and pay and working conditions.

On 25 November, the University and College Union said members at 42 institutions, which narrowly missed the 50 per cent legal threshold needed to take part in the strike action next week, will be balloted again between 6 December and 14 January. All institutions being re-balloted received a turnout of at least 40 per cent.
