‘Think twice before using recorded lectures during strikes’

Hepi report warns of confusion over intellectual property rights for prerecorded educational content

A think tank has urged universities to “think twice” before using old recordings of lectures during upcoming strikes, amid confusion over who owns the copyright.

With question marks over whether lecturers or their institutions own prerecorded material, the Higher Education Policy Institute cautioned that it might not be legal for universities to reuse recordings to cover classes while lecturers are on strike between 1 and 3 December.
