Universities call for more placements in teacher education

   

MillionPlus group urges government to focus on boosting placements rather than “unnecessary” teacher training reforms

Modern universities group MillionPlus has urged the government to boost the number of placements available to students on teacher training courses, ahead of a debate in the House of Lords later today.

In an 18 November briefing, MillionPlus said school placements for student teachers “are a core component” of initial teacher education (ITE), and that they “should have received much closer scrutiny and attention” by the government’s review of initial teacher education, which was published in the summer.
