Graduates who leave hometown to work ‘have better jobs’

Research shows people who leave their hometown more likely to be satisfied with their job

Graduates who move away from their hometown after attending university are more likely to believe they have a good job, research by the Higher Education Statistics Agency suggests.

Hesa calculated two scores for graduates working in any given region: one for “stayers”, who work in a region where they lived before university, and one for “movers”, graduates who came to a region to work after being brought up elsewhere.
